Weatherman predicts more rain Bengaluru, May 19, 2015, DHNS:



The City received  18mm rainfall till 8.30 pm on Tuesday. HAL airport and Yelahanka recorded 0.2 mm and 4mm rainfall. Squall was reported in the City and the maximum wind speed was 42kmph. This was recorded at 5.40 pm and was in the northerly direction. 

The BBMP control rooms were flooded with calls. More than 20 trees were uprooted. Tree uprooting was reported on Ambedkar Road, HSR Layout Second Block, Jnana Bharathi Auditorium, Peenya Third Stage, Ramachandrapura, Shivajinagar, Prakash Nagar at Rajajinagar, Kalyan Nagar Depot, BEL Road, HRBR Layout Third Block, Nandini Layout, J C Road, near Kino Theatre, Shantala Junction near Good Shed Road, Pushpanjali theatre at R T Nagar, Nrupathunga Road, Kengeri Upanagara, Dhoopanahalli at Domlur and Atmananda Colony at R T Nagar. The Palike said that workers were sent to clear the trees, immediately. 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain for the next two days. It has also issued a warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds across south interior Karnataka and coastal Karnataka. 

According to IMD-Bengaluru Director Sunder Mahadev Metri, the City and other parts of south interior and coastal Karnataka will experience thunder showers coupled with squall for the next two days because of trough over Lakshwadeep and surrounding areas and a sheer zone over south Peninsular India.
