After two days of incessant rains, Bengalureans have to brace themselves for two more days of rains as the Met department has predicted further rains in the next 48 hours.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, September is the wettest month for the city.
The city recorded 20.4 mm and HAL airport recorded 8.2mm till 8.30 pm on Monday.
Traffic jams were witnessed at Ramamurthy Nagar, Hennur Junction, Mekhri Circle, Anil Kumble Circle, Seshadripuram, Old Madras Road and other busy junctions of the City. Slow- moving traffic was witnessed at JP Nagar 15th phase till Bannerghatta Road and Hulimavu due to waterlogging.
The downpour exposed the bad civic infrastructure of the city. Many residents posted complaints on BBMP administrator TM Vijaya Bhaskar's Facebook page with pictures of waterlogged roads, overflowing drains and the inundated houses.
A tree was uprooted at Sampangiram Nagar near Pallavi theatre and three houses at Appayya Layout were inundated on Monday. The BBMP control room said, eight to nine trees were uprooted in the Sundays rainfall and the staff have cleared the tree branches with the help of earth movers.
The Bescom received 9,306 calls on Monday till 5 pm and about 3,728 complaints were registered, out of which 1,833 complaints were attended.
Residents of Yelahanka complained about waterlogging in Judicial Layout and Chikkabommasandra.
Archana Ramesh, a resident of Yelahanka in her complaint posted on the Facebook said that GKVK has constructed the compound walls, with holes to allow flow of rain water directly onto the streets of the adjoining residential layout, causing flooding.
Another resident, Mohammed M complained about water blockage on Mysuru Road since there was no proper drainage system.
