Rains reappeared in parts of the State bringing respite from the sweltering heat. Heavy rains lashed Hosapete taluk for around two hours early on Saturday morning. Banana plantations in Kamalapura were damaged due to heavy rains.
A part of the tower of a choultry in front of Vijaya Vittala Mandira in the Hampi ruins collapsed following rains. Vehicular movement on Kamalapura-Talwarghatta road was affected as a canal overflowed. Heavy rain lashed Hubballi and Dharwad towards Saturday evening after a break of nearly a month. The 30-minute showers brought traffic to a standstill as most of the roads were waterlogged.
After a long break, moderate to heavy rains accompanied by lightning lashed some parts of Shivamogga district.
Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, Hosanagar, some parts of Thirthahalli, Sagar and Shikaripur received rains. Among them, Shivamogga city received a good spell of rains that lasted for nearly 40 minutes. The Mysuru region received good rain, except Mandya and Chamarajanagar. While the rainfall started by 8 pm in Mysuru, parts of the district received the showers in the evening. Eight persons of Chakkodanahalli in HD Kote taluk of Mysuru district suffered injuries due to lightning on Saturday evening at Chakahalli. Hassan received rain for more than one hour. Some parts of the district also received the showers in the evening, accompanied by lightning.
