UPDATED: MAY 14, 2018 00:03 IST
A bright and sunny day slowly turned cloudy post afternoon. By early evening, several areas across the city witnessed heavy rains.
According to the KSNDMC, it rained primarily in south and central Bengaluru, with Nagarabhavi recording the highest rainfall at 50 mm.
Neighbouring Rajarajeshwari Nagar received 41.5 mm. In contrast, north Bengaluru received barely 0.5 mm rainfall.
With heavy wind accompanying the rain, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control rooms received complaints of trees coming down and broken branches blocking roads from many parts of the city. Tree falls were reported from Vijayanagar, Chandra Layout Water Tank, Magadi Road, RPC Layout, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Nagarbhavi, Girinagar and Ideal Homes, Kenchanahalli.
Due to the heavy rain, waterlogging was also reported from many parts of Bengaluru. Parts of M.G. Road saw nearly knee-deep water making commuting difficult for motorists, as well as in the Okalipuram underpass.
Due to heavy rain, traffic jams were also reported from Mysuru Road in the afternoon.
