Yakkundi in Belgaum district records highest rainfall in last 24 hours

MANGALORE: Yakkundi in Saundatti taluk of Belgaum district recorded maximum rainfall of 76mm in Karnataka in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on June 29. Hungund hobli in Hungund taluk of Bagalkote district recorded maximum temperature of 40.2°C on June 28 at 4pm. Gonibeedu hobli in Mudigere taluk of Chikmagalur district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 18.3°C on June 29 at 5.45am to 6am, according to KSNDMC.

More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 37% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 8% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as isolated since 17% of the hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall of =2.5mm. Heavy rain was recorded in two GPs; rather heavy rain was recorded in 12 GP; moderate rain in 123 GPs; light rain in 119 GPs, very light rain in 158 GPs, and no rain in remaining 1,509 GPs.

The maximum temperature fell at few places over interior Karnataka and Malnad region and changed little over remaining parts of the state. The minimum temperature fell appreciably at few places over north interior Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state.

Karnataka for the period June 23 to June 29 recorded deficit rainfall of 85%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 55mm in south-interior, north-interior, Malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 8.2mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on June 29, four geographical regions received 2.1mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 9mm, a 76% deficit departure from normal.
