Jul 7, 2014, Kodavatthi in Tumkur district receives maximum rainfall of 103mm


MANGALORE: Kodavatthi in Kunigaltaluk ofTumkur district recorded maximum rainfall of103mm in Karnataka in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on July 7. Almelhobli in Sindgitaluk ofBijapur district recorded maximum temperature of 35.6°C on July 6 at 4pmMadikerihobli inMadikeritaluk of Kodagu district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 17.3°C on July 6 from8pm to 8.15pm, according to KSNDMC.

More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 44% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 1% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as scattered since 30% of hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall of 2.5mm. Heavy rain was recorded in one gram panchayat; rather heavy rain in 21 GPs; moderate rain in 208 GPs; light rain in 165 GPs; very light rain in 415 GPs; and no rain in remaining 1,105 GPs.

Maximum temperature fell appreciably at many places over south interior Karnataka and Malnad region; fell at many places over north interior Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state. Minimum temperature rose at isolated places over south interior Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state.

Karnataka for the period July 1 to July 7 recorded deficit rainfall of 64%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 64.3mm in south-interior, north-interior, Malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 23.1mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on July 7, four geographical regions received 5.1mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 9.1mm, a 44% deficit departure from normal.
