Hotter days ahead: IMD Wednesday 18 March 2015

Residents will have to gear up for hotter days as mercury levels are likely to rise, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast.

The City recorded a maximum of 33.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with HAL airport at 32.6 and Kempegowda International Airport at 32.3 degrees Celsius, as per IMD records.
“ The normal maximum temperature is presently 33 degrees Celsius, which is not very hot. However, we are feeling the heat because of the sudden rise in temperature. Earlier it was cloudy and it was raining. But now the weather is dry and there are no clouds and strong winds prevailing,” said Sunder Mahadev Metri, director of IMD, Bengaluru.

However, there is also a possibility for cloud formation, which can result in dip in temperatures. This may occur due to the trough of low pressure prevailing over Lakshwadeep islands and Kerala, which lies over the south east Arabian Sea, adjoining Lakshwadeep.
But, presently, the forecast is increase in temperatures for at least the next four to
five days.
