Thunderstorm claims boy's life in Mysuru MYSURU, APRIL 26, 2015,

A boy was killed and two were seriously injured by lightning at Mirle village in Mysuru district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Sandeep (13). M K Chandra and Manjunath are the injured. The incident occurred when the three, who were herding sheep, took shelter under a tree during a downpour around 12.30 pm.

Following overcast conditions, Mysuru city recorded good rainfall during the day.
According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Cell, the city and parts of Mysuru taluk received 41mm rainfall. Rainfall was fairly widespread in Nanjangud and K R Nagar taluks, which recorded 53.5mm and 32mm rainfall, respectively.

Sporadic rainfall was reported in T Narsipur taluk (56.5mm), Periyapatna (32.5mm), H D Kote (32mm) and Hunsur taluks (11.5mm).

In Hassan district, maximum rainfall was recorded in Hassan taluk (51.5mm). Parts of Holenarsipur (59.5mm) and Arkalgud taluks (39.5mm) also recorded good rainfall. Rain was scattered in other parts of the district.

Moderate rainfall was reported also in Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts.
