Temperature levels rise in Karnataka but reservoirs keep water hope alive..

BENGALURU: Though mercury levels in many districts of the state are on the rise, there is some hope when it comes to water storage in reservoirs in the coming months.
Data collated by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) show water levels in eight of the 13 major reservoirs of the state are much better compared to what they were during the same time last year.

KSNDMC director GS Srinivasa Reddy told TOI Cauvery water supply for drinking purposes won’t be affected in summer.

“However, the state still has a commitment to release water to neighbouring Tamil Nadu and there will be losses in the form of evaporation and seepage. We have to analyse the situation after a month to get a clearer picture,” he added.
