Rains lash Chikmagalur, Madikeri

Rain continue to lash
Chikmagalur and Kodagu
district on Wednesday. The rain
brought a relief to the citizens
from scorching sun.
The rain details are as follows:
Chikmagalur city - 47 mm,
Vasthare - 24.4 mm, Joladal -
28 mm, Aldur - 30.4 mm, Kadur
36 mm, Yagati - 21.2 mm,
Basarikatte - 19.7 mm,
Lakkavalli - 35.4 mm,
Bukkambudi - 58 mm,
Hunasaghatta - 39.5 mm,
Rangenahalli - 24.2 mm, N R
Pura - 34 mm, Megaramakki -
30 mm, Kigga - 29 mm,
Thanigebail - 17.6 mm.
Rain damage
Two houses were damaged
when a lightning struck it at
Samse village in N R Pura taluk
on Tuesday night. Television
set, refrigerator and cup board
were damaged in the house of
Abraham in Samse due to
lightning.
His wife Susamma has received
mild shock. She was also
injured as a lamp fell on her and
has been admitted to the
hospital. Over 200 packs of dry
grass were burnt and metre
board has been completely
damaged.
Speaking to Deccan Herald,
Abraham said that five members
of the family were fast asleep on
Tuesday night, when the
lightning struck the house. "I do
not know what happened as I
fell unconscious. When I woke
up, my neighbour took my
injured wife to the hospital. I
have incurred a loss of around
Rs 1.5 lakh,” he said.
A commercial complex near
Abraham’s house too was
damaged, incurring a loss of Rs
one lakh.
Shanivarasanthe
Shanivarasanthe received heavy
rain on Tuesday night. The
drains were filled with water.
The rain brought smile on the
face of coffee growers.
