Heavy rainfall brought life to a standstill in many parts of the City on Wednesday. Waterlogging resulted in some important roads being chock-a-block while traffic came to a grinding halt at nine places following the uprooting of trees.
According to BBMP control room, trees came crashing down at Indiranagar, Central College, KPSC head office, HBR Layout, Whitefield, Gunasheelanagar, Koramangala, etc.
The Palike's Prahari team had a tough time removing the felled trees. There was, however, no word about any major damage due to the uprooting of trees.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated to heavy rainfall in the coming days in Bangalore and most parts of south interior Karnataka because of the presence of an upper air cyclonic circulation of 3.5 km above mean sea level hovering over Kumarin Area.
B Puttanna, IMD Bangalore director, told Deccan Herald, "Under the influence of this system, we are receiving rainfall. The winds blowing from the ocean are carrying moisture because of which Bangalore City is experiencing good rainfall. The City will experience rainfall which will be heavy at times for the next 4-5 days, which will help reduce the temperature. So far this month, the City has received 128.88 mm rainfall against the normal of 211.5mm."
Bangalore City received 26 mm rainfall from 00:00 hours to 8 am on Wednesday, and 8.8 mm rainfall between 8am and 8.30 pm.
