Nargund, the nerve centre of Mahadayi agitation, witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday evening. Rains pounded the town for over 20 minutes bringing the soaring temperature down.
The rains exposed poor civic infrastructure in the town as rainwater mixed with sewage spilled onto roads in the low-lying areas including Dandapur area in the town. The farmers however are happy that the Friday evening rain would help the rabi crops thrive.
Traffic was disrupted over the whole night on the inter-state highway that connects Sathyamangala from Hanur in Chamarajanagar as a tree got uprooted due to heavy rains on Thursday night.
Most parts of Malavalli taluk in Mandya too received heavy rains on Thursday.
