KARWAR, Normal life derailed in Uttara Kannada

Rains continued to pound many
parts of the State on Tuesday.
Siddapur town in Uttara Kannada
(U-K) district received heavy rain
for about half an hour from 4.30
pm. Strong winds, thunder and
lightning preceded the rainfall.
The town was plunged in darkness
as power lines snapped due to the
rain.
Vehicular movement was affected
on the Sirsi-Siddapur road as a
tree fell near Nidagodu. Traffic was
affected at Vadagere Cross near
Harsikatta due to a tree fall.
Roof tiles flew off a few houses in
Mundgod town of the district.
Electricity supply was affected as a
tree fell on a power line and
uprooted four electricity poles on
the Hubli-Sirsi road on Tuesday
afternoon, due to gusty winds.
A few electricity poles were
uprooted also at Ugginakeri in
Mundgod taluk of U-K district. A
tree was uprooted due to rain
accompanied by thunder and
lightning in Karwar city.
The tree fell on an electricity line,
bringing down a few electricity
poles, leading to a power cut.
Chikmagalur
However, heavy rain coupled with
hailstones wreaked havoc in parts
of Kadur taluk, killing fowls and
damaging crops, at Neele Gowdana
Koppalu in Kadur taluk.
A poultry farm was damaged in
Kadur.
Rain also lashed Mudigere, and
Chikmagalur taluks.
