Deputy CommissionerCShikha on
Tuesday disclosed that rainfall
received in the district till the
month of April has damaged
properties worthRs 56.51 lakh
including loss of livestock,
damage to houses and destruction
of standing crops.
Participating in a meeting
convened at her office in the city
by District in-charge Secretary
AmithaPrasad, the deputy
commissioner explained that owing
to recent heavy rainfall, six
livestock were reported dead and
the loss was estimated at Rs
75,000.
A total of 402 houses had been
damaged with losses reported at
Rs 28.76 lakh, while 342 acres of
standing crops worth Rs 27 lakh
were damaged.
Adequate funds
Shikha said that adequate funds
ofRs 9.7 crore was available under
CalamityRelief Fund, of which Rs
1.5 crore had been sanctioned.

Husbandry DrDevdas claimed that
there was sufficient fodder for
cattle for now.
In all 2.57 lakh tonnes of cattle
feed was available, and the same
would last for another 14 months,
he said, adding that no goshalas
(cattle shed) had been opened.
On the status of drinking water
supply, said that till April a grant
of Rs 2.67 crore had been diverted
from Calamity Relief Fund to
various implementation officers.
A total of 228 works were
underway and measures like
supplying water through tankers,
besides repair works on pipelines
and also flushing of borewell
points were being taken up.
Chief Executive Officer, Zilla
Panchayat, Mysore,PAGopal said
that water was being supplied
through tankers in 21 villages. As
and when complaints related to
drinking water supply is received,
authorities concerned were acting
swiftly to address the same, he
claimed.
Mid-day meals
Among 49,594 students at 548
schools coming under drought hit
taluks in the district, 11,500
students were availing the benefit
of mid-day meal during summer
vacation
Joint Director, department of
Agriculture, Mahanteshappa said
seeds had been distributed under
a subsidy scheme.
Amitha Prasad directed the
officials to focus on mitigating
woes pertaining to drinking water
for the next two months
