Rain brings respite to Dakshina Kannada MANGALURU, MAY 16, 2015, DHNS:

Rain, coupled with lightning and thunder, lashed parts of Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday night.

The night rain brought some respite to people from the scorching heat prevailing for the past few days. In fact, the cloud remained overcast throughout the day on Friday.

A woman suffered injuries when lightning struck her at Kuntikana in Mandekolu of Sullia taluk on Friday.

The injured is Janaki, wife of late Narayana. The lightning had struck the electricity meter and spark from the meter fell on her, thus injuring her body.

In another incident, walls of a house developed cracks and electric equipment were damaged when lightning struck the house at Meginapete in Vittal on Thursday.
The house belongs to Jana, a resident of SC Colony in Vittal Kasaba.

The six inmates of the house were fast asleep when the lightning struck the house. However, they ran outside for safety.
