Many parts of Mysore region comprising Mysore, Mandya, Hassan andChamarajanagar districts have received rainfall for the past two days.
Mandya, which had received relatively less rainfall when compared to other districts in the region, recorded maximum rainfall on Wednesday. The rains were widespread in the district with Nagamangala taluk recording the highest rainfall of 87.5 mm. Other taluks like KR Pet, Maddur, Mandya and Srirangapatna received 33 mm, 41 mm, 36 mm and 24 mm rainfall, respectively.
The Mysore city received continuous rainfall fromTuesday night tillWednesday morning.The city which also received rainfall on Wednesday evening recorded 20 mm. The KR Nagar taluk too received a rainfall of 30 mm.Some parts of Chamarajanagar district too received rainfall. The Kollegal taluk in the district recording 30 mm of rainfall.Heavy rain accompanied with thunder and lightning lashed Hassan on Wednesday. Dank weather prevailed throughout the day. With the sky remaining overcast, the roads were deserted by evening.
No casualities
There were reports of waterlogging on many roads across the town. Water gushed into cellars of commercial complex and personnel fromFire and Emergency Services were called in to pump out water. However, there have been no reports of any casualities.
In Hassan, rainfall was relatively widespread in Hassan taluk which received 60 mm of rain.Other taluks like Alur received 30 mm of rain, Arkalgud26 mm and Channarayapatna38 mm.Apart from this Belur and Holenarsipur taluks too received rainfall.
The residents of Kolar got a respite from sweltering heat after it rained heavily in the noon on Wednesday. Rain water gushed into houses in low-lying areas washing away household articles. The residents of PCExtension, Jayanagar, Rahamathnagar, Kuvempu Nagar faced a tough time in draining water from their houses.
Rains finally lashed Kolar Gold Fields and surrounding villages on Wednesday night, after the region witnessed cloudy weather for the past three days.Though it largely drizzled, some of the villages also received good rainfall.
Heavy rains lashed across Dakshina Kannada district. The region received rain from 6 am to 8 am.
The shower brought relief from the scorching heat. In the last 24 hours, Sullia taluk received highest of 34.2 mm rainfall followed by Belthangady15 mm and Mangalore8.6 mm.
Eight injured
Meanwhile, eight persons including a child and a woman were injured when lightning struck them at a farm on the outskirts of Hadagalu Thimmapura near Ajjampura town of Chikmagalore district. The injured were rushed to Tarikere hospital and are stated to be out of danger.
