Aug 11, 2015, Phalguni in Chikkamagaluru district receives highest rainfall of 136mm

MANGALURU: Phalguni in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district recorded maximum rainfall of 136mm in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on August 11. Tekkalakote hobli in Siruguppa taluk of Ballari district recorded maximum temperature of 37°C at 2.30pm on August 10. Arehalli hobli in Belur taluk of Hassan district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 18.4°C from 3.45am to 4.15am on August 11, G S Srinivasa Reddy, director, KSNDMC said. 

More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 55% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as scattered since 29% of hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall =2.5mm. Very heavy rain was recorded in one gram panchayat; heavy rain over 62 gram panchayats; rather heavy rain over 184 gram panchayats; moderate rain in 388 gram panchayats; light rain in 371 gram panchayats; very light rain in 1098 gram panchayats; and no rainfall in remaining 2,856 GPs across the state. 


Karnataka for the period from August 5 to August 11 recorded deficit rainfall of 12%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 51mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 45mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on August 11, four geographical regions received 6mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 7mm, an 18% deficit departure from weighted-average normal.
