Bengaluru weather update: Cloudy sky, light rain till July 12
While the India Meteorological Department and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC) have given thunderstorm warnings to over 13 districts in the state, Bengaluru will be spared the worst. The met department has said that up to July 12, the city’s weather is going to remain cloudy with light showers.
Srinivas Reddy, a scientist at KSNDMC said, “The city will see very light to moderate rain. Even in the interiors of southern Karnataka, there is no chance of heavy rainfall. In northern Karnataka too, we expect scattered to moderate rains. Heavy rainfall will be confined to the coastal and Malnad regions.”
“Due to the offshore trough and the low pressure created in the Bay of Bengal, the cloud cover will be on the city till July 12. However, the clouds are not strong here, which is why Bengaluru is not receiving heavy rainfall,” he added
The met department predicted light showers though. “The weather will be cloudy for another 2-3 days. There will be light showers in the city as well,” said Geetha Agnihotri, director of India Meteorological Department (IMD).
However, the met department warned that Udupi, Uttara Karnataka, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Bagalkote, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Belagavi, Chitradurga, Hassan, Shivamogga, Tumakuru and Kolar districts may see thunderstorms and moderate rainfall for a day or two.
