Hitnal in Koppal district receives highest rainfall of 101.5mm

MANGALURU: Hitnal in Koppal taluk of Koppal district recorded maximum rainfall of 101.5mm in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on August 9. Moka hobli in Ballari taluk of Ballari district recorded maximum temperature of 36.7°C at 3.45pm on August 7. Gokak hobli in Gokak taluk of Belagavi district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 8.4°C at 2am on August 9, G S Srinivasa Reddy, director, KSNDMC said. 


More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 61% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as scattered since 32% of hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall upto 2.5mm. Heavy rain was recorded over eight gram panchayats, rather heavy rain over 73 gram panchayats; moderate rain in 641 gram panchayats; light rain in 436 gram panchayats; very light rain in 957 gram panchayats; and no rainfall in remaining 2,850 GPs across the state. 


Karnataka for the period from August 3 to August 9 recorded deficit rainfall of 26%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 52mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 38mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on August 9, four geographical regions received 5mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 7mm, a 31% deficit departure from weighted-average normal.
